Gillies Jones Glass

Glass maker Janusz Pozniak visited the studio of Gillies Jones Glass, Rosedale Abbey. March 2003. With the support of the Arts Council, Yorkshire, he offered a series of one day demonstrations open to glass making students, professional glass makers, gallerists, curators and collectors. The title of the event 'rubare con gli occhi' came from the Venetian tradition when the master would not actively teach an apprentice, speak any advice, or offer technical guidance.

The only opportunity for an apprentice glass maker to learn the skills was to constantly watch , and practice as soon as an opportunity arose. The event made available the skills of the Venetian technical tradition. This was the second event in a series (previously 1998 Tobias Mohl), funded by the Arts Council (Yorkshire Arts).
