Landscape Study blue over red

The British Glass Biennale

May 14, 2015

We are pleased to announce that three of our landscape studies have been selected as part of the British Glass Biennale, which takes place in Stourbridge from 28 May to 28 June 2015.

This major exhibition awards a number of prestigious prizes, chosen by a jury of industry leaders from institutions such as Sotherbys, the Ikon Gallery and the British Glass Foundation. The event forms part of the International Festival of Glass, and has been attracting visitors and enthusiasts from across the world to venues throughout Stourbridge’s well established Glass Quarter. A vast range of techniques are represented in the works featured across the Biennale – it continues to be one of the most significant international events for anyone interested in contemporary art and design in glassmaking. http://www.biennale.org.uk/

London Craft Week 6-10 May 2015

May 3, 2015

Our new limited Cherry Blossom bowl will be launched exclusively at the iconic Fortnum & Mason store during the first ever London Craft Week, where events will be taking place in various venues across the city from 6 – 10 May 2015 and on exhibition and available to purchase until 31st May.

We’re delighted to have been chosen to be part of a specially curated exhibition featuring the work of 28 luxury craftsmen, all of whom are part of the Walpole Mentoring Programme.

Many of the makers will be showcasing items of contemporary craft that have been made specifically for the Fortnum & Mason event, with a broad range of disciplines included – from ceramics, paper and jewellery to millinery, glass and silverware.

During the course of the event, there will be an open invitation to ‘meet the makers’ on Friday 8th May between 2-5pm, where members of the public are given the opportunity to see & speak to the exhibitors. Live demonstrations will also be taking place, enabling customers to learn more about the processes involved and the high level of skills required in order to produce these objects of superior quality.

In addition to glassware from Gillies Jones, Michael Ruh and Heather Gillespie, the Fortnum & Mason showcase will include the works of ceramicists Helen Beard and Chris Keenan, silversmiths Ndidi Ekubia and Shona Marsh, milliners Katherine Elizabeth, Emma Yeo and Bailey Tomlin, jewellers Ruth Tomlinson and Jesscia Poole. There will be a special focus on leather craftsmanship with Saddler Mia Sabel working alongside the brand Ettinger, her Walpole Crafted Mentor.

We look forward to welcoming you at the Fortnum & Mason Piccadilly store.
