Landscape, light and vast skies – North York Moors
Amazing light on Friday as I made my way across the moor tops to the post office. Just love this part of the world and the constantly changing light and colours. Vast skies lift the spirits. Spring is in the air and summer soon to arrive.
Thank you for all the wonderful messages of support following our little bit on Countryfile.
Apologies to anyone frustrated by the website crashing under the weight of interest following the show. All is back up and working well.
Warmest regards from Rosedale

Springs Blossoms & Blooms
Spent some time in the garden yesterday gathering up the blossoms and blooms.
Though the wind is cold, the sunshine is bringing out the best of spring.
Wonderful Howgate Wonder
What a wonderful day and a wonderful apple. We’ve been our picking some of the old English apples from our orchard. These apples keep really well throughout winter.
Andy Goldsworthy – Rosedale
Artist Andy Goldsworthy is making a series of works in Rosedale, which will eventually form a beautiful walking trail in Northdale.
We are delighted to have made a small contribution to one of the works in the form of an Occulus, for Jobs Well, and we are really looking forward to the completion of the project which is supported by the David Ross Foundation.
First Empty Egg of the Year
My first empty egg find of the year. Just a beauty.
We spent an hour in the apple orchard today, enjoying the warm spring sunshine and clearing the dead wood form the harsh and long overdue pruning of our apple trees.
It does finally feel like spring is here.

Rosedale’s Weather’s Turned
Brrrrrrr, suddenly it’s winter in the Moors. The snow ploughs are out, the abundant red berries have been striped from the Holly trees, and all is quiet and very cold. Love winter……
We welcomed a film crew this week. Look forward to seeing and sharing the details of the days work in 2018.
