Lunchtime Talk – Scarborough Museums Trust

February 15, 2015

“Glassmaker Kate Jones has been lined up as the first guest speaker at Scarborough Art Gallery’s 2015 series of lunchtime talks.

Her talk on Thursday 19 February will explore both the history of glassmaking in Rosedale, above Pickering, and the work of its contemporary makers Gillies Jones.

Partners Stephen Gillies and Kate Jones maintain an artisanal approach to their craft – making internationally acclaimed works that are featured in museum collections across the globe, including the V&A. This year, they celebrate 20 successful years as glassmakers.

Kate said: “Rosedale has been associated with glass-blowing since the 16th century, and the methods we use today continue to mirror those that have been used for hundreds of years.”
