Landscape, light and vast skies – North York Moors

April 13, 2019

Amazing light on Friday as I made my way across the moor tops to the post office. Just love this part of the world and the constantly changing light and colours. Vast skies lift the spirits. Spring is in the air and summer soon to arrive.

Thank you

Thank you for all the wonderful messages of support following our little bit on Countryfile.

Apologies to anyone frustrated by the website crashing under the weight of interest following the show. All is back up and working well.

Warmest regards from Rosedale

Springs Blossoms & Blooms

April 5, 2019

Spent some time in the garden yesterday gathering up the blossoms and blooms.

Though the wind is cold, the sunshine is bringing out the best of spring.

BBC One – Countryfile

April 4, 2019

We have been very lucky and met this lovely fella a few weeks ago, when BBC Countryfile came to spend a day with us.

This coming Sunday  you’ll be able to see our time together on BBC ONE 7th April at 7pm.

The programme marks the 70th anniversary of the creation of the National Parks.

We are delighted to have small part on the show, where we will be spinning an overlay glass plate and taking John through the process and the landscape that inspires our work.

Hellebore Bowl

March 14, 2019

The ‘winter rose’ is a member of the buttercup family. This year our studio garden has given us a wonderful show of hellebore, with a bright display of the glorious crowns of these elegant flowers. At a time when so few plants are daring to shine, hellebore provides a reliable source of joy as a prelude to spring.

For millennia our ancestors crafted cures for madness and depression using hellebore, though it also gained notoriety as a poison, being implicated in the assassination of Alexander the Great.

Combining an evergreen foliage with a myriad of colours atop a tall stem, this brave circle of beautiful flowers is a welcome sight in the warm March sunshine.

Can you post glass ?

December 15, 2018

Can you post your glass safely is a question we are often asked, and yes is the answer.

We use good quality packing materials and a sturdy box to protect the glass in transit. The Royal Mail delivers all our UK parcels on a guaranteed signed for next day service. If you are not in, they will keep it safe until you re arrange delivery or collect it from the local office. We send our glass successfully throughout Europe and Worldwide.

Sloe Berry Bowl

November 28, 2018

The Sloe Berry bowl will be our final limited edition design of 2018. A cool purple glass bowl that celebrates the deep purple pearls of the Blackthorn tree. It’s been a fantastic year for these fruits, (the ancestor of all our cultivated plums) and which are surprisingly, incredibly sweet (for a Sloe) which should make a great Sloe Gin. We’ve got both Sloe and Elderberry Gin on the go and are really looking forward to Christmas.

Some people may remember many years ago, we made a hand cut sloe bowl in grey glass, this year we are very happy to revisit this beautiful winter bounty with our new technologies enabling us to capture the essence of this abundant plant. Like most rural areas Rosedale has many, many blackthorn hedges, and this year, they are laden with purple pearls.

There have already been quite a few pre orders for this design, and we are planning to launch the bowl through our mailing list later this week. Please drop us an email or give us a call if you’d like to pre order a bowl.

Glassmaking – Root Vases

November 15, 2018

We’ve been making our small Root vases this week, in a wide variety of colours. These vases are so easy to use for the non flower arrangers amongst us (myself included), any seasonal flowers seem to position themselves effortlessly.

Though not available to order online, give us a call or an email if you’d like us to post one off to you.

Website Issues – thanks for your patience

We’ve been doing some work on our website which caused a few hiccups in it’s usual smooth running.

Many people brought the problem to our attention and we are very grateful.

Thanks for your patience and as you can see we are all back up and running.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the technical issues.

Warm regards from Rosedale
