March 26, 2008

Well, more weather pics. Its been very cold, but that has not deterred some hardy souls !

It has been beautiful. 6.30 Easter morning, the light was amazing , and the sun felt warm despite the fresh layer of frozen snow.

London / Design Nation

February 29, 2008

Been in London for a few days, showing work at a press event with Design Nation.
First time at such an event run by Attenborough Saffron.
Much beautiful work by other makers from the collective. Design Nation is a great way to find all kinds of great stuff for the home desiged and made by British Makers.

And still Mighty Cold.. minus 8

February 20, 2008

I realise that this blog is in danger of becoming a ‘weather’ blog but – once the freezing fog lifted the frost was amazingly thick. Really beautiful but breathtakingly cold ( literally )

11am ! Still V V Cold

Mighty Cold

February 18, 2008

11am and still frosty in the shade, but very beautiful ! Parts of the moors still covered in white frost and studio visitors reporting snow still lying about on the top.
Good glass making weather !

Down South

Happy Valentines !

Been away for a few days in Devon and Bournemouth. Good to feel the warmth of the sun and the light, which was amazing down by the coast. I know its a picture of a duck…. but the colours flashing in the light were wonderful. And on a walk in Devon the determined new growth from the dying moss covered tree trunk was good to see.

Aesculus @ Contemporary Applied Arts

Collect 2008

January 27, 2008

Just got back from town. It was a very good show ! Much outstanding work to feast the eyes and heart on. Not much glass, but much ceramics and Jewellery a plenty.

Also, satellite show of Philip and Monicas, Baldwin Guggisberg, just down the road towards the Tube station on Exhibition Road. Nadia and Angel at Vessel have done a great job of showing Philip and Monicas work. Well worth a look and the 200 yd walk from the front entrance of the V&A .

It was also good to see so many friendly faces from Rosedale, thank you to all who came along on the Friday !

Disappointing, that at the opening of the event, the Crafts Council did not announce the next venue for the show when it moves from the V&A for 2009. We all wait to see the next incarnation of this important event for European Applied Arts, in a ‘Post Craft’ world. The failure to announce has caused much speculation , which I hope it will be resolved quickly and no damage is done to the credability or continuity of the show.

If you are in or near London town I do recommend a look. There is a link on the blog to all the details.

Yorkshire Post

January 15, 2008

Made the Post again on Saturday. Bit of a nice surprise. All to do with CIN… The Burns Owen Partnership did some research for CIN, about creatives in North Yorks. Turns out combine us as a group across the board, and we economically make more for the county than farming, forestry and fisheries.

If you fancy a read of the full piece then the link is below.
